16th AICFB National Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged 2023, Mumbai

16th AICFB National Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged 2023, which will be held at Mumbai from 13th March to 18th March, 2023. This Championship is being organized by All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB). Kindly note that only selected players will be eligible to participate in this championship. Please note that this is the highest level National chess championship for the visually challenged and also FIDE rating tournament. So, AICF registration/ renewal is mandatory for all players

Venue: Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini Keshav Srushti, Uttan Village, Essel World Road, Bhayander (West), Thane – 401106, Maharashtra, India.

Details of the Championship:

a) The Championship will be played on Swiss League basis in accordance with FIDE & IBCA Rules.

b) This is National level selection championship, The winner of this championship is crowned as National Champion also we will select players for the IBCA World Individual Chess Championship for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Asian Para Games.

c) Please note that as this is the selection for Asian Para games 2022, it’s mandatory for all participants to submit the athlete medical form which is signed and stamped by concerned Government medical authorities. Only those who are  classified in Asian Para games 2018, Indonesia are exempted from this but they have to submit the copy of their clarification before the tournament. In case of any player who is already classified in Asian Para games 2018 want to claim that they belong to different category ( from B2/B3 to B1) then they have to submit an athlete medical form signed and stamped by government medical authorities. All the documents should be sent to [email protected] on or before 10th March.

d) All the selected players should be ready for medical test whenever the Paralympic Committe of India notifies before the Asian Para games 2022.

e) Please note that registration is mandatory to all participants on AICFB ChessMitra Portal. All Players must register your name on https://chessmitra.aicfb.in/ . Players who have already registered do not need to register again.

f) Lodging & Boarding will be provided from 13th March (Morning) to 18th March (Afternoon), Reporting time will be on 13th March at 10:00 am (Morning). AICFB strives to give decent accommodation to all the players and escorts at best effort basis. This is done based on the availability of sponsorships as no money is charged for the said accommodation and food or even the tournaments. AICFB and it’s affiliate bodies try to provide these facilities to try and reduce the challenges of players, however in case of any player or escort needs more comfort, he / she could stay on their own as per their choice.

g) Please note that the prize distribution function will be held on 18th March, 2023 at 02:00 pm for which the attendance of all participants is compulsory. So, you book your ticket according to the time after prize distribution function.

h) Escorts are not allowed without prior approval or alternately make their own arrangements.

  • All the players will have to strictly adhere to the AICFB Rules any miss conduct will not be tolerated.
  • Players and accompanying persons are requested to maintain the discipline throughout the Championship within the campus. The Championship organizers have the right to take action against the in disciplinary activities from any person.
