About Us

All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) was established in 1997 and has been working for the promotion of chess in India for the blind. International Braille Chess Association (IBCA) which granted AICFB affiliation in1998,is responsible for the development and promotion of chess activities amongst the visually impaired all over the world. 14 state bodies affiliated & more than 2500 active chess players have been registered with AICFB. We have organized 19 Zonal levels chess tournaments, 9 National tournaments & sent Indian teams 12 times to participate in the World Chess Championship.

AICFB also had the honour of organizing the first ever Asian Chess Championship in India in December 2003,which was the first International chess tournament in the history of India. The International Braille Chess Association has recognized the overall progress made by AICFB and appointed Mr. Charudatta Jadhav, Gen. Sec.as Executive Board Member of IBCA. The AICFB has been able to integrate India with the rest of the world in Chess activity for the Blind.

Ever since the formation of the AICFB & its Affiliation to the IBCA, blind chess players in our country have made tremendous progress.
