AICFB successfully conducts third day of IndusInd Bank National School Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged at Alandi

Pune, December 20, 2019:  The four-day ‘IndusInd Bank National School Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged’ organized by the All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) had a successful day 3.  Over 200 participants from 16 states in the age group of 7 to 18 years – including over 70 girls – representing 35 different schools and institutes are participating in this Championship.

There are 65 prizes for five categories – Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Open – and one National School Trophy.  The Championship is being held at Mumbai Maratha Fruitwala Dharamshala, in close proximity to the ‘samadhi’ of Maharashtra’s most favorite saint, Sant Dnyaneshwar from December 18th to 21st 2019 at Alandi, near Pune.  This initiative is supported by IndusInd Bank Ltd.

About AICFB

The All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) was established in 1997 and has been working for the promotion of chess in India for the visually challenged. AICFB is affiliated to the national apex body, All India Chess Federation (AICF) and recognised by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), an international organization that connects various national chess federations around the world and acts as the governing body of international chess competition.

As on date, AICFB has a national footprint with 14 state bodies affiliated & more than 2,500 active chess players registered with it. AICFB has organized 19 zonal level chess tournaments, 9 National tournaments and sent Indian teams 12 times to participate in the World Chess Championship.
